Interpreters provide a service for patients, carers and clinicians to help them understand each other when they do not speak the same language. Not being able to communicate well with health professionals can impact health outcomes and increase the frequency of missed appointments, the effectiveness of consultations and patient experience.
The Lawson Practice has access to interpreting services for many languages. If English is not your first language please let reception know, and we will ensure that an interpreter is booked for your appointment.
Emergency Treatment: If you require urgent or emergency medical treatment, you can receive it from any GP surgery, regardless of whether you are registered with that practice.
Temporary Residents: If you are staying in an area for a short period (e.g., on vacation or for work), you can receive treatment as a temporary resident. It’s advisable to register as a temporary patient at a local GP surgery.
NHS Number: If you have an NHS number, bring it with you when seeking medical care. However, treatment should not be denied if you do not have one.
Prescriptions: If you are on regular medication, it’s important to inform the GP during your visit. They can provide prescriptions for the duration of your stay.
Accessing Services: Temporary patients generally have access to the same services as registered patients. However, some non-urgent services may be limited.
Lawson Practice offers a wide range of additional services both for our registered patients but also for those registered with other practices locally. Currently, we are offering the following services.
- Stop smoking
- Phlebotomy
- Community anticoagulation
- Extended access appointments with a GP
- Sexual health services, including screening, coils, and implants
